I’ve been meaning to try out the Themify theme shop for a little while now and when my wife asked me to build her a little website for her new handbag project I had the perfect theme in mind – and figured I would make a mini review about the experience. You can check the finished website out here if you are interested.
Themify specialise in premium responsive themes. Most of the themes are suitable for blogs and small websites, with several in the style of Tumblr. They have some really unique and stand out themes, without the need to customize and add much to them. Right now they are also offering buy one theme get one free on all themes – so it’s a great time to try them out. Alternatively you can get all of the themes they offer for only $69, at the time of writing that’s 32 themes – just over two dollars a theme!
The theme I used for the site is called ‘Minshop‘, a nice minimalist e-commerce ready theme integrated with Woocommerce. I also picked up ‘Folo‘ as my free theme to play around with. Folo is a business portfolio theme, with lots of choices – I was initially attracted to it because of the cool circle slider.
What I liked
Options, options, options – All Themify themes come with a great WordPress admin panel with options to set pretty much anything you can think off. Every single colour on the site can be changed and a choice of 10 patterns for each one.
Easy installation – As expected with most WordPress themes the installation was a quick and easy process and I had everything up and running in no time at all.
Easy to customize – I wanted to make a few small changes to the code and CSS, which proved very easy – the templates are well coded and easy enough to add to and customize.
Responsive design – I’m a big fan of responsive design. The theme adapted to several different screen sizes well and didn’t need any additional coding or changes to make it display properly.
Easily integrated with WooCommerce – The integration with WooCommerce was great, I was entering products in no time and everything sat in the right place without any help. I hope to see more e-Commerce themes from Themify in the future.
What I didn’t like
No option for Google font’s – I would have liked to see some option to choose Google font’s from the admin panel instead of the standards 8 web safe font family’s.
Overall
I would definitely recommend Themify and will hopefully get a chance to use their themes again. The themes are great, well coded and unique designs that work well with WordPress. If you are thinking about using a theme for your blog or small website you should definitely checkout what Themify has to offer, you won’t be disappointed.
